philadelphia is trying to pass a really terrible bill making it necessary for philadelphia venues to supply the philly police chief with 30 days notice of ANY SCHEDULED SHOW... they have to provide a liquor license, an entertainment lisence, contracts between promoter and venue, and proof of provided security. AS IF BOOKING A SHOW ISN'T HARD ENOUGH!!!!!!!!!!!! so many diy venues have already been shut down.

please lets not have philly turn into richmond, this would be a HUGE blow for the diy arts scene

In March they toured to SXSW’s GAYbiGAYGAY Festival and in September released their debut EP, Dr. Ponie Medicine Ponie, recorded at Headroom Studios and now available on Punk Rock Payroll. Both onstage and in the studio, Dangerous Ponies channel the energy of best friends, whose inventive songwriting and kaleidoscope of instruments mixes ‘60s lo-fi pop with Animal Collective’s experimental fizz. Giddy up!

Dr. Ponie Medicine Ponie bubbles like Dangerous Ponies’ live show, opening with a magnetic intro before dropping into the danceable guitar and drum grooves of “When You’re in Town.” This serenade to a returning lover (when you’re around it’s always better) ends in true Dangerous Ponies fashion with a high-spirited group sing-along (cry cry cry if you want to/try try try if you can/but I know that we’ll all be friends in the end.) The bass line on “That” creeps in like The Zombies “Time of the Season,” followed by the summery “Not Now! Not Ever!” whose chorus of “Woo Hoos!” are meant for road tripping. hey everyone! so danny(boys and sex), and jeremy(band name) live in a great warehouse with a bunch of other rad people (peter,joe,kyle,marshal, kat, greg) called big mamas warehouse. Big mamas warehouse throws shows, has a beautiful recording studio called headroom (where we recorded our EP), and an in house screen printing press. all of these people are in great bands, like boys and sex, peter and craig, algernon cadwallader, band name, and kyle is in dangerous ponies. So danny had the idea to put together a compilation of in house bands, bands that are good friends that have played at the house, and great bands that are good friends with the house or bands in it. This is an awesome way to promote musical community, and there is going to be a great release show for the cassette compilation, featuring ALGERNON CADWALLADER, BOYS AND SEX, DANGEROUS PONIES, HOP ALONG QUEEN ANSLIES, and BANDNAME. We will be selling them at the cassette release and also at our shows. hopefully if this goes well for danny and the bands it will turn into a compilation of 7 inches of all sorts of things like b-sides and rare takes HOPEFULLY recorded at head room they're in house studio. so here are some of the graphics designed by greg (bandname)

when i found out the beatles albums were getting re-mastered, i'm not going to lie... i was a bit freaked out. i thought to myself 'what could they possibly do?' it sounds so good, so full, so perfect, so warm. but i heard it, and they didn't rob it of the warm tone that i adore so much. i mean i'm not expert, human sound memory isn't very long, but just take a listen to the beginning of the old version. stop it then immediately start the other one, so good.

hello loves! so... we have a crush, on punk rock payroll... and wouldn't you know the feeling is mutual. So we are going to be working with them for a while, going on a few dates, talking about boundaries, and they will be putting out our self title full length this summer WOHOOO.

for those of you that don't know anything about punk rock payroll, they rule. Awesome people doing awesome things for awesome reasons. and we are getting involved, and are very excited about it.

The other bands on the label are the extraordinaires, kill you in the face, and lux perpetua. We are having this swell PRP label show case at kungfu necktie on sunday the 8th of november. Now KFN is a really sweet venue, but not the largest, so for those of you that want to be there try and get your tickets as soon as possible, because we want some ponie love in the place.

Flailing arms, swinging heads, and feet that want nothing to do with the ground. Band members are dancing in the crowd, the tambourines are ferocious, and everybody’s screaming the chorus. I’m at the Baltimore stop on the Dangerous Ponies tour, and I’m one of these music-crazed partygoers.

This kind of communal party concert experience is Dangerous Ponies’ signature style. With a rotating group of eight members slamming on three guitars, drums, a bass, and an assortment of tambourine, cymbal, and synth-playing hype people, having fun just seems to come naturally to this Philadelphia-based band.

SO tour so far has been a blast, for reals. The EP release was AMAZING thanks so much to all of the incredible people that came out and danced and sang and got silly. get billy. it was a whole lot of fun :)

so heres the run down:
NY: crazy dance party warehouse fun. AMAZING vegan dinner beforehand, good beers and people afterwards, who could ask for more?
OLNEYVILLE: cool space, some really sweet people... some very serious hardcore kids :)
MAINE: i may be convinced the nicest people in the world live here. bangarang is an incredible queer house that hosted the show at another co-0p down the road. great bbq, an amazing kid named evan.... who was the mini version of our evan, one mister E bernerd. stayed overnight in portsmouth where i would like to say the best breakfast in the world lives. it lives at a place called the friendly toast, and it's called the ole miss. oh em gee.
PROVIDENCE: AS220 is a really great space. it's really well run, they have an art gallery, dark rooms, and a built in taco joint. WOOOOWZERS.
BOSTON: fish n chips
CONNECTICUT: we played an AMAZING after party for a trans equality play about queer and transgender people in the bible. The space was beautiful, as was the cause. everyone was so kind and we met some really nice folks.
HARRISBURG: we stayed at the wolverines folks house for three days we played once in york which was a wild good time, and once in wilkesbarre which was incredible because the kids there know whatsup and they always come out and have a blast :). most important of all when we were there i got a case of the death sick and we watched all of WIZARD PEOPLE DEAR READER, which is a fully narrated version of harry potter through the eyes of comedian brad neely, i dare you to not laugh:

MY BACK PACK: i would like to make it known that my back is a multi-functional piece of equiptment. it services me in many ways. it is my portable trashcan, my portable library, my portable mohabe pack, a portable drug store, a portable healing kit. it has many forms and functions and it is just a few pieces of canvas artfully sewn together.

so lately i've known two people that got arrested for open container violations, and the cops where really really really reaching to even charge them with that.

Then the other night when i was leaving moms they were pulling people out of the bar and other bars on that strip and just trying to egg them on and put them in cuffs... i didn't really see any reason. So... i think they are trying to meet a quota, or someones coming down on them, so they are causing problems for no damn reason. Just a fair warning... if your hanging out on south street, be careful.

so... i went to barns and noble today to pick up the 2nd book in the dune series (slowly pushes glasses back up to the bridge of her nose), and i picked up this sweet book for jacob called thats good thats bad. The plot is so/so but the illustrations are SOOOO MUCH FUN... they are like quirky and silly, and totally hysterical.

so... since i highly dislike blogging on myspace, and livejournal just doesn't cut it, i've officially become a blogger. This is interesting for me, i always thought to be a blogger one must be the owner of many self help books, a child, a business, be an artist or at least have alot of shit talking to do (for instance d-listed). Then i realized that i do own alot of self help books, i nanny a child, having a band is practically a business and i can talk just as much shit as anyone else.... if not so much more. I also realized that having a blog is a good way to network and communicate in our highly expanding technological world. So here i am.
